IT for Dominica Day 3

P1030578 Wednesday was rainy, very rainy.  There was a big plan to go snorkelling, but with unfavourable weather we choose relaxing with some rum punch instead!  Before a little rum punch in the rain (really whose idea is it to come to the Caribbean in rainy, hurricane season anyway?!)  we had a very successful Day 3.

We started off with blogging, adding widgets and videos to our blogs!  We also looked at adding pages, not just posts!

We were fortunate to have @jswiatek Skype in with us to talk all about student blogging!  It was a first Skype experience for many of the Dominica educators.  It was great to share just how easy and quick it is to connect.  P1030581 Thanks Jerry!

Other sites we explored

http://www.kerpoof.com/ – great for primary students to create movies, pictures, cards, and certificates.

http://todaysmeet.com/ – a great simple chat and backchannel tool

http://glogster.com/edu – We love glogster – we will be working with it over the next few days, just a quick intro today!

http://www.mashon.com/spore/creator/ – an awesome site to create comic books based on the video game spore

http://www.wordgames.com/ – great, simple word games

http://www.skype.com – where to get the free video conferencing tool

  1. Jen,

It was a pleasure to speak to you and all of the great teachers of Dominica. I hope you’ll share all of your blog addresses. I’d love to subscribe to them to keep up with how things are going. Thank you again…

  2. [...] I won’t cover what we have learned so far because it would take up too much space and time, but here’s an example of an interesting day at the workshop. [...]

I hope he returned Nemo to his dad. He’s been searching the whole ocean for him.
